can’t have it all.

I was really excited to be back in the city – Starbucks, Mcdonalds, 7-Eleven, expressways and tall buildings! But it meant checking out of spanking new Holiday Inn into some serviced apartment that’s actually not too bad, but because I’ve been spoiled by posh HI and most importantly, the toilet here really SMELLS. Me and Siew went to the convenience store and told them “wo men de fang jian hen chou” and he recommended us some thing to “qu chou”. I think it’s insect repellent zzz. We ended it spraying it all over the bathroom and while it did get rid of the toilet smell, the whole room had this insect spray smell for the whole night.

And I have damn bad indigestion.

:(

I’m in an ulu place 1.5 hours away from the city with limited food options. I’m done with all the Pocky I brought from Singapore and I don’t like seeing dog meat on menus. I went to a Halal place today (yay! no pork no dog!) but the beef was.. weird. Siew ate my share and wound up with diarrhoea :( Lunch was better. We ended up in a Cha Chan Teng place that served bubble tea! But the chicken spaghetti had a smelly fat chicken odour.

AND the saddest part is I don’t really like how much I’m missing the boy. We should be good at this long distance thingy by now but I’m quite hopeless this trip zzz. I think it’s a combination of hormonal changes, China food, long work days (it’s 1:42am now and I’m having DINNER. Nissin cup noodles from Singapore btw) and no boyfriend on TGIF night. How depressing.

day 2

Telling two friends within the span of 2 hours, “I can’t view, in Chinaaa” when they paste me Youtube links is no fun. Not being able to access blogspot and Facebook is no fun – I’m super thankful for the smallest things in life now i.e. having my blog NOT on blogspot and the ability to connect to MSN. And I miss seeing stray dogs on the streets. I see dog meat on the menu at both the restaurants I went to for lunch and dinner :(

It’s now 1:36am and I just ended my work day, well technically I still have work to clear but I’m too hungry and tired to bother. I’ll wake up early tomorrow instead :( I’m chomping on Pocky and Lays (brought over from Singapore cause I don’t trust China food) as I type this.

Okay I’m done whining, bed time. Growls.

great firewall.

In the land of facebook & blogspot ban zzz. The supper place our driver brought us to serves dog meat :( So it’s room service + cheetos at 2:30am. The consoling part is, the room/ hotel is really quite good.

I miss the boy :(

The boy and I explored Little India last evening for naan, fish head curry, butter chicken and Mustafa. Not quite your run of the mill date and it was quite fun!

arghhh.

Lohei yesterday was… epic. (P.S. I don’t really like the word epic cause I think it’s the most overused word around. Haha, a quick google shows there’s even a FB page for this.) Anyway, we had too much food and we wound up force-feeding ourselves the yusheng for good luck. It’s funny how we are all quite very pantang even though we appear to be more ang mo pai :P But I think it’s kinda expected for people who run their own businesses to be superstitious and believe in fengshui.

Anyway, it’s really very rare that all of us are in Singapore together <3 A supposed 10 minute stay at Siew’s stretched to over an hour and I left her place at 1130pm really tired.  The boy said by the time I got home, I was so grumpy and I remained grumpy through my sleep :P

hmm

Came across this blog entry about LDRs. I remember when the boy and I first started dating, he was away so much and everyone kept asking me “so when is your boyfriend coming back?” We started off on a LDR note and there were times he will be back in town for like 2 days before he has to leave again. And because we’re not the sticky-sticky type, my heart always skips a beat when I get a text or call from him. Especially when he was in some African land and I couldn’t call him and had to wait for his once in a few days calls. But I managed to survive thus far, especially when I busied myself with 16 to 20 hour work days, weekends inclusive. And with the work travelling in between, time does seem to pass faster.

I guess in a way, I’ve grown to be more independent – I did fly shady Berjaya air from Seletar Airport by myself okay! In case you don’t know, the plane has propellers! I can’t just happily sms nonsense updates about my life like how my toes are itchy but I have the partners who talk to me almost 24-7 so I’m quite thankful <3 And the most amazing friends who are there to spend time with me. I think we’ve also grown to be more appreciative (I hope) of the relationship. Like what I always say, how to fight when you only have few minutes to talk to each other?

And it doesn’t help that our job natures doesn’t really give us a lot of time together even when he’s in Singapore. Sometimes he gets off work after midnight and I’m already asleep and there are times I’m out of the country. Like for e.g. I’ll be in China next week and I’ll return on the 4th and he’s leaving on the 6th (I have a pending photoshoot scheduled for the 6th somemore).

But in all, I’m thankful that despite the distance he was in town for both our birthdays, Halloween, Christmas, NYE/NY and CNY and we managed to throw in a much needed holiday too, though the eat-eat-eat-eating was way too much. Sidetrack, I need to find a way to stop this feasting. There was the CNY feasting before my trip, the nonstop eating during my trip and now that I’m back this week, I spent Monday at Holiday Inn Havelock lohei-ing with my suppliers over a many course Chinese lunch, Tuesday evening i.e. yesterday was spent with the company lohei-ing (foie gras!) over a many course Chinese dinner, tonight I’m gonna lohei again with the invaluable helpers to ClubCouture <3 and I’ve just been invited to another business lohei lunch tomorrow at Holiday Inn Orchard. And cause it’s chup goh meh, Daddy insists we eat family dinner aka feast tomorrow. WHY LIKE THAT. I don’t even really like sharks fin and abalone to begin with, and eating it every day is quite an overkill. What I really want now is McNuggets haha.
